Lib Dems hold Regional Conference in Solihull

Liberal Democrat members from across the the five counties in the West Midlands Region head to Solihull on Saturday October 20th for their autumn conference and AGM.
The event at Solihull College Conference Centre is hosted by Solihull Lib Dems and will be opened by Liberal Youth West Midlands.
The all day programme includes keynote speeches from Pensions Minister Steve Webb MP, the Professor of Social Policy now steering through the coalition's revolutionary proposals for pensions, Sir Graham Watson MEP, the President of the European Liberal Democrat Party (ELDR) and a speech by Lord Dick Newby, the Lib Dem Chief Whip in the Lords and Government Treasury Spokesman.
The conference will also debate a motion from Rugby Lib Dems who are calling for new council tax bands for the largest homes as a way of delivering the Lib Dem plan for a Mansion Tax on homes worth £2 million or more.
Lorely Burt MP, John Hemming MP and Euro MP Phil Bennion will report on their work in Parliament.
The afternoon fringe programme includes a policy forum for members to contribute to the regional party's efforts to improve Lib Dem policy on education and manufacturing.
