Alasdair Brooks

Alasdair Brooks candidate for the Needwood Forest division in the May 2021 Staffordshire County Council Election

Alasdair Brooks is an archaeologist and heritage professional whose specialisations include studying how 19th-century Staffordshire pottery was exported around the world. He has worked professionally in the UK, Australia, the Middle East, the United States, and South America, and feels strongly about the need for the United Kingdom to maintain and build on its international connections. He is the current president of the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology, the UK and Europe's main professional society for the archaeological study of the past from c.1500 to the present.
As someone who has been forced to shield at home for medical reasons during to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in a past role helped to organise commemorations of the centenary of the 1918-19 Spanish Flu pandemic, Alasdair has direct personal experience of the impact of the pandemic on the most vulnerable members of society.
If elected he would foreground the need for continued long-term support for the elderly and vulnerable after lockdown ends.
