Fiona Robertson ()

Fiona Robertson candidate for the Lichfield Rural West division in the May 2021 Staffordshire County Council Election

Having lived in the Lichfield area for more than twenty-five years, I consider myself to be fortunate to have raised family here, to have worked here and now, retire here. I now have the time to give back, which is why I would like to represent you on the council.

I joined the Liberal Democrats on the morning of the referendum result, but they had been my political 'home' for many years before that - it seemed natural, that being a nurse in some capacity for my whole working life, that I would join a party that put caring at its heart. Caring for the NHS and all health care workers, caring that all children receive the best education regardless of where they happened to be born, caring that young people can stay and work in the area, if they choose to by providing housing, which is affordable and growth in jobs locally - growth which needs to be environmentally sustainable.

I have worked in the NHS as a ward sister, educator and researcher, but also in Further and Higher Education, and Social Services, so I have broad experience of working collaboratively, often in difficult circumstances, to achieve the best possible outcomes and it is this experience that I would bring to the council if elected.
