Garrick Road (Lichfield City) - Elected May 2019
Though I only moved to Lichfield less than three years ago, I am no stranger to Staffordshire or the city. My father taught in Stafford, before retiring from teaching to work in Lichfield, and I lived in Stafford for ten years until I left college, when I worked in the technology field, including the NHS, supporting computer users in the East Anglian Regional Health Authority, as it was then.
In 1988 I left the UK to work in Japan, initially on a two-year contract, but ended up staying there for 28 years, returning for family reasons in 2016 together with my wife, Yoshiko. In my time in Japan, I worked as a technical writer with major international electronics manufacturers, as a journalist, covering business and technology, in the IT department of major international finance houses, and as a copywriter, producing articles for the Japanese government and for major Japanese enterprises. Along the way, I wrote letters and speeches for various dignitaries (including two who went on to become Prime Minister), industry reports on the retail banking and wealth management industries, and many stories of Sherlock Holmes, and other novels.
Since arriving in Lichfield, Yoshiko and I have been impressed by the kindness, friendly nature, and generosity of the people here, and by the sense of community that exists in the city. I am happy to offer myself as a candidate for election, sharing the desire of the Liberal Democrats to create a society that will assist and benefit everyone in the district.
