Lichfield local elections 2019

Paul Ray, Councillor for Chadsmead Ward

A councillor on Lichfield City and District Councils for Chadsmead ward, Paul Ray was elected in a by-election in February 2016 and re-elected in May 2019.

In May 2019 he was joined by an extra 7 Lib Dem councillors on Lichfield City Council for Chadsmead, Leomansley, Stowe and St John's Ward. Lichfield Lib Dems have shown themselves in the May 19 elections to be the main challengers to The controlling Conservatives in Lichfield City and also had a strong second place in Mease Ward. Also within Lichfield & Burntwood parliamentary constituency Derek Lord was placed immediately after the two winning Conservatives in Needwood ward in East Staffs with another good vote - well done!

Lichfield District Results 2019 (Lichfield Liberal Democrats)

Liberal Democrats contested all district wards in Lichfield City Parish plus one rural ward in Mease Valley where we also had a strong second place result.

A better reflection of our performance in Lichfield City is in the parish election results summarised below:

Lichfield Local Plan Preferred Options - Lib Dems

Lichfield is a great city to live in. It should also be a great city to work in. Unfortunately, so many Lichfield and Burntwood residents must commute out of the area each day to go to work. With its highly skilled workforce, strong road and rail connections to the rest of the country and available land for development, the Lichfield area can provide an excellent location for businesses looking for a site in the Midlands.

Boris Johnson's government has set out a disastrous agenda which will force through a hard Brexit, undermine our public services, destroy opportunities for our communities and cripple living standards.

Brexit will hinder our ability to safeguard our NHS and reduce our capacity to tackle the climate crisis.

The fact that radical climate action has been ignored is a hallmark of a government which is setting all the wrong priorities.
