What does Farage mean by “Reform”?

Along with the Liberal Democrats, Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK Party Ltd. (company number 11694875), recognises that there is a problem with the NHS. However, his “solution” differs radically from ours.

We Liberal Democrats wish to see a more equal tax system whereby those with the broadest shoulders carry a heavier load. This would include social media platforms, large e-commerce companies, and multinational, multi-billion pound operations who arrange to be conveniently located where they pay relatively minimal amounts of tax. This extra money would be used to fund social care at a realistic level, putting less strain on health services, reducing bed blocking and pressure on NHS facilities.

“Reform” of the NHS – putting your money into private pockets

By contrast, Farage and Reform UK Party Ltd. and the lesser-known Reform 2025 Ltd. company seem to favour an American-style system, based around private insurance, where “deductibles”, “co-pays”, and “networks” result in the developed world’s most expensive healthcare system, along with third-world life expectancy and infant mortality rates. About 1 in 12 Americans lack any kind of health insurance. Maybe this is the future NHS that Reform UK Party Ltd. backers and donors envisage; but is it what Reform UK voters want to see?

Food “Reform” – making the nation less healthy

Along with this, Farage has also expressed his agreement that US agricultural products such as chlorinated chicken and American hormone- and antibiotic-laced meat would be allowed into the UK as part of a trade deal with Trump’s USA. Many common ingredients in US food are banned in the UK – and the way in which farm animals are treated in the USA does not meet British standards. But is this really what Reform UK voters want?

“Reform” of local government – by those with zero experience

Reform UK has only a handful of district councillors nationwide, and none in Staffordshire. While the Liberal Democrats have no County councillors, we have a substantial presence in Lichfield District Council. Liberal Democrats are supported by a strong national party network, with practical and achievable policies for reform which will benefit us all – not just making the richest few even richer. For those who reject the Labour and Conservative parties, there is only one real alternative.

We, the Liberal Democrats, are a party which aims high, while keeping our feet on the ground.
