Lib Dem Tamworth candidate urges for an immediate inspection of local school for RAAC
Mr Virk called for the inspection after he said that he understands there will not be another inspection until December despite an initial report not ruling out the presence of RAAC.
Sunny says that the delay could leave parents to worry that their children could be being taught in classrooms at risk of collapse. He has called on the government to set up a COBRA meeting so that Ministers can get to grips with the ongoing issues and ensure that children are being taught in safe classrooms.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Tamworth, Sunny Virk said:
“RAAC is a serious concern at Ashcroft Infant and Nursery School. It is beggars belief that despite a visual inspection not ruling out the presence of RAAC, another inspection may not happen until December.
“A full site inspection is needed now. Parents' minds need to be set at ease and they deserve to know that their children are not being taught in classrooms at risk of collapse.
“The Prime Minister should have called a COBRA meeting immediately, yet he has delayed and left families in uncertainty about how RAAC will affect their children's education. This is a national emergency and should be treated as one.
“This Conservative government has yet again put children, patients and people last. Ministers need to show respect and treat this as the crisis it really is for every family affected.”
