Michael Fabricant does it again
While arguing that black is white - that is to say, potentially being made to wait for hours in passport control is a good thing, our "socially liberal" MP has just done it again.
He cheers for Brexit, the Brexit which according to the Office for Budget Responsibility is responsible for a 4% drop in GDP (the COVID pandemic by comparison is responsible for only 2% according to the same source), which has resulted in shortages of goods and materials, labour shortages, and financial pain to many SMEs.
A reminder. At the 2019 hustings, Mr Fabricant told us that "we'd all be wealthier after [Brexit]". A 4% drop in GDP directly attributable to Brexit doesn't seem to make that a very accurate prediction.
As for "taking back control of our borders", the current inept government seems unable to handle the deal it negotiated and the disintegration of the United Kingdom appears increasingly likely as a result.
But perhaps all this is what Mr Fabricant wants. His words certainly imply it. He's not a little Englander is he?
