Our plan to halve energy bills by 2035
Sky-high energy bills are a massive problem for families, pensioners and businesses across the UK.
Our wonderful candidate, Morag Maclean, stood as the Lib Dem candidate in this by-election, caused by the resignation of an independent (formerly Conservative) councillor earlier this year.
Sadly, despite a massive effort by Morag and a team of magnificent supporters, we ended up with:
Candidate | Party | Votes | %age |
Glen BOWN | Labour | 314 | 19.3% |
Brandon CLARK | Reform UK Party Ltd. | 439 | 27% |
Morag MACLEAN | Liberal Democrats | 185 | 11.4% |
Richard STEPHENSON | Conservative | 690 | 42.3% |
One ballot paper was rejected, and 1628 ballots were cast. A very disappointing turnout rate of 26.29%
Working hard all year round
What guides us? The purpose of all our Lib Dem policies is to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. There's more information on this in What we stand for. Find local news here or on the separate Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton/East Staffs pages.

We can’t turn a blind eye to the devastation across the Occupied Territories if we want to achieve a permanent peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
I’m proud that once again it is the Liberal Democrats leading the way, with our vision for an economy that is growing strongly, where everyone feels the benefits.
