Latest Planning White Paper does not do enough to solve the Housing Crisis

Paul Ray writes As Liberal Democrats we know that a major priority for our country is to solve the housing crisis, by making housing properly affordable. As a councillor on Lichfield District Council, I am on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee which has reviewed the "Planning for the Future" White Paper and I have expressed serious concerns about planning.

Oven Ready  - or Half Baked?

Just get it done so that we can get on. Attractive refrain. But does returning Mr Johnson to No 10 really Get It Done? We are promised that the EU trade deal will be done by the end of 2020. If not we leave without one. So No Deal is still very much on the table.

Lichfield City Council resolves to consider Climate Emergency in future spending decisions.

At its meeting on Monday 21 October 2019 Lichfield City Council agreed to a motion which formally recognised that a climate emergency exists, and resolved to take this into account as a factor in future spending decisions of the City Council. The Climate Emergency motion, proposed by Liberal Democrat Councillor Hugh Ashton, provoked a lively and passionate debate, with useful contributions from all sides. Cllr Ashton says:
