The Guardian today reports that a Hong Kong-based property tycoon, Mr Cheung Chung-kiu, is being allowed to develop a property in Knightsbridge which he bought for £205m earlier this year. As the property had a single previous owner Westminster Council evidently has no power to refuse the planning request. The property will be renovated to make it into an eight story palace for the private use of Mr Cheung Chung-kiu.
